Monday May 11th Lochbroom Field Club
Talk by Dr Scott Timpany (Environmental Geoarchaeologist . ORCA Marine & Orkney College UHI)
'A Tale of Two Hut Circles: Shedding New Light on the Former Landscape of Wester Ross'.
This talk will show how analysis of pollens, dating from prehistoric to post medieval, gives evidence of vegetation change and of human farming activity in the landscape. The investigations were carried out at two sites at Achtercairn, Gairloch as part of the Wedigs Project.
The talk will be preceded by the launch of the Final Report of the Wedigs project that Anna Welti has headed up.
Venue Ullapool, MacPhail Centre 7.30pm. Non-members of Lochbroom Field Club, £3.00
The Macphail Centre is accessed through the High School entrance. There is a large car park at the High School.
There will be two field trips relating to this talk:
Sunday May 10th Visit with Dr Timpany to Achtercairn Wedigs sites, Gairloch.
Monday May 11th Visit with Dr Timpany to Achiltibuie Wedigs sites. We will be back in Ullapool in time for the above lecture.
